Getting Started on Android

If you would like to start usingWalker Tracker with your Android phone, you can follow this guide to get set upand moving.

  1. Download Walker Tracker

Go to your Play Store on your device and search for “WalkerTracker”. Look for the shoe icon in a square box to assist in identifying"Walker Tracker". You may need to scroll down to find the app. Select to Install. You'll need to share some permissions with the Walker Tracker app

Register an Account

NOTE: If you’ve already created an account, instead log in and proceed tothe next step.

Open the WalkerTracker app. If you are just starting, you will need to create an account. Onthe bottom of the login screen you will see the option “Don’t have an account?Create One Here”.

You will have anoption to enter an URL for your program and it will be formatted like “example.thrives.app”.If you don’t know this, check the invitation you received or ask your programadministrator.

On the next screen, enter your name, unique email, username, and password. Youmay be asked to choose an organization and team, depending on your program.Answer any other questions, agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy,and then click Register.

Upload a Profile Photo

Add a profile phototo your account so that others can recognize you. You can do this during thesetup process, or if you prefer to wait, you can add it later by tapping on theGear icon to open your Settings and tap “Edit Image” to select an image fromyour camera or photo library.

Choose a Step Tracking Option

During accountsetup, you can choose a method for tracking your steps. You can manage yourdevice connection by tapping on the Gear icon to open your Settings and selecting“Add/Manage Device”. You can connect a device or app to automatically sync yoursteps to your account by following this guide:

Connect a Device or App on Android

If you would ratherenter steps manually, you can do so if you have no device or app connected toyour account. Reach out to your program administrator to let them know that you’llneed to manually add steps so that they are aware.

NOTE: Manual step entry is not available in all programs. Check with yourprogram admin for information on whether this option is available.

Create a Daily Entry

You can make entriesto add steps, activities, log wellness metrics, journal entries, and  photos. What entries you can log will dependon what metrics your program is tracking and what options are available. 

If you are in a Points challenge, you will earn points by entering wellnessmetrics through these entries.

You can enter steps if you have no device connected and your program allows formanual step entry.

Add Friends

Adding Friendsallows you to engage with other users in the social features of Walker Tracker.To add friends through the Android app, tap the icon depicting two people toopen your social options. Enter the username or name to search for them andthen click “Add Friend”.

Join a Challenge

If you didn’t join achallenge at registration, you can do so by consulting the below guides. If youare joining a team challenge, you will do so by joining a team associated withthat challenge. Check with your program administrator to determine how yourchallenges are being organized and when they will be available to join.

Join or Leave a Team on Android

To join a teamthrough the Android app, tap the icon depicting two people to open yoursocial options. Select the team tab. Enter the name of the name of the team youwant to join. Tap on the name of the team to open its page. Tap on Join Teamnear the top of the page.

Remember that everychallenge has a date range which determines which days the challenge willcount. It’s okay if you have entries before the challenge, they won’t alteryour total steps for the challenge.

Get Moving, View your Progress, and Share Your Progress

When you’re familiarwith making entries and are part of a challenge, you can start focusing on themain purpose of the challenge: Being active! Spend some days walking, sharingtrail photos, and entering your activities. When you have built up some data,you can then check your dashboard to see a chart of progress over time.

You can access achallenge page by swiping right and selecting the Challenge tab, you can see aleaderboard showing yourself and a selection of other competitors from acrossdifferent activity levels of the challenge.

If you are part of a Team, you can access your Team’s page by swiping right andselecting the Teams tab. Select your team name to view the progress of yourteam’s average and leave comments encouraging your teammates.
